Numerous unanswered questions
North County Times: Letter to the Editor - 1/20/2010
Although I don't believe the Merriam Mountains project should be reheard, I would like to commend Supervisor Roberts for acknowledging that there are numerous unanswered questions on the Merriam Mountain proposal. The so-called pipeline project has been given another chance.
However, the fact remains that it still doesn't comply with the county's General Plan, which only permits 345 homes in the area currently proposed to include 2,700. That's 40 times the houses allowed! Why do staff and the developer continue to ignore this?
Additionally, it's obvious that the increase of homes will not only impact the rural setting, but all those who live in it and around it. Roads will indefinitely overcrowd, not to mention bring more inconvenient construction and noise.
The answers to these questions, and so many more, were not addressed in the first hearing and are unlikely to be solved at the next. I hope our County Supervisors do not ignore these issues or the concerns expressed by so many about this project.
